A monk and a cat

Once a monk met a cat in a rainy day. It looked like the cat was waiting for him.
When I finished the lineart my husband remebered once he read a story, somekind of Japanese fairy-tales about a monk and a cat. We found that story. Actually it wasn't originally Japanese but was written in that manner. Very beautiful story about a cat-daemon and a monk Benkei by Dalia Truskinovskaja from Riga. When Benkei had been dying the cat was laying on his chest. And died together.
Sadly I didn't find an English version. (
