... The Emperor's gaze turned to a red star - Mars...
"I stood on the tallest peak of the Oympus Mons and watched as the Emperor set foot on Martian soil, the first Terran to do so in five thousand years... I remember it well, the Emperor kneeling before the Fabricator General. As they exchanged greetings, I recognised a kindred spirit in the Emperor... A union of Terra and Mars, the head of the Emperor's eagle gaining a twin in his heraldry" (from G. McNeill "The Kaban Project").
The sword design was taken from magnificent Dan Scott's art "The Emperor's Wisdom", the uniform is based on ceremonial uniforms of kings and later emperor's and uniforms of Napoleon's army officers. And one of my main inspirators - music: H. Zimmer's "Gladiator", two songs of "Within Temptation" - "Towards the End" and "The Truth Beneath the Rose" (from the very first listening these songs have been associating with Horus Heresy in my mind) and soundtracks of "Dawn of War 1 and 2".
I want to say thank you all of you, guys, who come here, watch, comment and share opinions and arts with me. It's really nice that you are.
So this is where this picture comes from! I've seen it other places before, and I just love it! I love it even more than the most glorious golden power armour. This is perfect!
Although, it's too bad that the Emperor is too often put into the Horus Heresy series as an explanation for anything. The Mechanicum on Mars? How about a complex history of gradual veneration of technology and loss of understanding of the scientific process, coupled with increased reliance on advanced technical systems for keeping the Martian society viable and safe from the deadly atmosphere and lack of native food? No no, apparently, "the Emperor did it." Pity.
Great piece of work! Ten thousand years of iconography have made the Emperor a larger-than-life and therefore halfway imaginary figure; you, on the other hand, managed to give Him a very human aspect while STILL keeping him commanding enough to make PRIMARCHS jump to his call, when he says, "Boys, follow me!" That's more impressive (to me, leastways) than some mythological creature doing the same!
Thank you very much! I didn't want to portrait him in armour - there are many such arts. Meanwhile my purpose was to show not only a god and a warleader, but also a strong, wise and imperious human.
I think about the other primarchs' series just out of armour but also based on extracts from Horus Heresy novels. It could something like a series of illustrations.

You should do Primarchs out of their armour too
а еще, с первого вгляда мне по глупости показалось, что это Снейп
а случайности не случайны)
